Revelation's Seventh Angel Transitions To Final Triumph

or many years, scholars have wondered concerning the seventh seal found in Revelation, where the text describes a brief silence in heaven:

"And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour" (Revelation 8:1).

This means the seal judgments seen in Revelation only total six judgments -- and the seventh is a transitional device to introduce the details seen in the six trumpet judgments which follow. Similarly, the seventh trumpet is not a judgment at all, as are seen in the six trumpet events, for when the seventh trumpet blows, we see declarations of glory in the heavenly scene:

"And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever" (Revelation 11:15).

Although the significance of these statements may elude some, when it comes to the mysterious book of Revelation, every clue we receive turns out to be very important. Because it is commonly thought there are seven seals, seven trumpets, and seven vial judgments, the realization that there are actually only six of each judgment (six seals, six trumpets, six vials), helps us to recognize the 666 nature of the tribulational pattern itself.

The truth is, the book of Revelation is positively overflowing with mathematical clues concerning how the end of the age will unfold, but because of our foolish reliance on the traditions of men, we regularly assimilate the information within a systemic approach which is flawed. As a case in point, most believers will tell you the tribulation period is seven years in length, when the text plainly states the term of the Antichrist figure is 42 months, or 3 1/2 years:

"....and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months" (Revelation 13:5).

This belief in seven seal judgments (and seven of the trumpet and vial judgments), as well as a seven year tribulation serves to shift the focus from the sixes, which provide us with the key numerics to accurately perceive what is Spiritually occurring. Further, because the number six is readily divisible by the Spiritual "thirds" which are seen throughout the text, once again, the math is skewed to distract us from the formulas which can help us unravel the true nature of the prophesied events.

For instance, when the Devil is imaged as a colorful dragon who is said to pull a third of the stars into his orbit, we might realize that "third" leads us right back to the number six:

"And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon...and his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth..." (Revelation 12:4).

This would mean that the stars which remained now consisted of .666% of the stars before the dragon impacted the entire creation with his iniquity. Surely this is significant.

During the trumpet judgments, the days are shortened by a third (Mark 13:20), through the apparent increase of the spin rate of the planet, because we see the day "shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise" (Revelation 8:12). As this obviously tumultuous event occurs, a day will become 8 hours instead of 12, or .666% of what it was before the devastating judgment.

When the judgment angels are loosed from the river Euphrates, they kill "the third part of men" -- which is usually thought to refer to a third of the men in the world. However, since a human being is thought to consist of three components in the form of body, mind, and soul, it is a distinct possibility that one of the these three is in view when it says this horrifying angelic host is given the power to "slay the third part of men" (Revelation 9:15). In any event, what is left is definitely .666% of what it was before the dreadful event.

There are actually many more examples, but the point is, by missing the mathematical significance seen in the Spiritual and symbolic transition from six (representing the finite, created nature of man), to the number seven (imaging the rest, perfection, and completion seen in the divine nature of God), our carnal minds continually jump to incorrect conclusions.

In another study, we've shown the number six is always associated with when the Beast "was," and the number seven is when the Beast "is not." In previous studies, we've also shown the number eight is seen as the return of the Antichrist Spirit, when his deadly wound is healed, and he mystically "ascends out of the bottomless pit."

This is the beast was, is not, and shall ascend cycle, expressed in multiple works as the 6,7,8 Cycle. In this astonishing pattern, we see that eight, as the number of new beginnings, renews the cycle of another one through six, with no rest (or seven) in sight. Conversely, God always was, always is, and always shall be:

"Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever" (Hebrew 13:8).

Thus, we rejoice with the seventh angel, for significantly, it is in that very same Scriptural passage we see the eternal nature of God:

"And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven....Saying, we give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou has taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned" (Revelation 11:15,17).
