The False Prophet - Part 2

    In Malachi Martin's words, this new age will begin because of "John Paul's reliance on a heavenly intervention, the evocation of an utterly new state of consciousness in all mankind."_30. The Bible speaks of this "intervention" in the form of a series of miracles - except the individual that is at the center of this supernatural activity is the False Prophet - and the one he receives his power from is actually the great red dragon spoken of in Revelation._31.

    There are further proofs that are a bit more subtle in the scriptures that help us to identify this False Prophet. The text tells us "that he had two horns like a lamb."_32. This imagery of the two horns associates him with the goddess religion, for a recurring name found in the Old Testament relating to her worship is the place Ashteroth Karnaim - which means Ishtar of the Two Horns. The two horns are connected with the worship of Isis, the Egyptian Fertility goddess, whose worship was manifested in Old Testament times when the Israelites made an image of her in the form of a golden calf with two horns. In short, the False Prophet must revere the Goddess. (for more on the Goddess connection, see The Queen Of Heaven & The Fallen Stars, Apocalypse Chronicles Vol V #1).

    This connection between the False Prophet and Ishtar, the Babylonian goddess, is also seen in the title of the apostate church that is headed by the False Prophet. Revelation describes this religion as "Mystery Babylon the great, the mother of harlots,"_33. clearly marking the association with the Babylonian mystery religions in general, and the goddess religion in particular.

    The current Pope, John Paul II is widely known for his unprecedented adoration of Mary - the Catholic version of the Queen of Heaven. In his own book On The Threshold Of Hope, Karol Wojtyla writes that "During the Second World War, while I was employed as a factory worker, I came to be attracted to Marian devotion." Later he writes that:

    This word "abandonment" means to be completely given over to something. This act is described in scripture, and ironically it is placed in the context of the ancient Israelites reverting to their pagan goddess worship. The martyr Stephen tells us that when the Israelites backslid and worshiped the Golden Calf with the Two Horns, "Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven...."_35.

    While most Catholics chafe at the idea that Mary has been elevated to the status of a goddess, formal church policy now has her as born sinless, perpetually a virgin, ascended to heaven, and encompassing the entire Trinity. Every one of these doctrines is complete blasphemy. Indeed, one of John Paul II's encyclicals is entitled Redemptoris Mater - which can be rendered the redemptive mother. The Bible, of course, clearly contradicts all this nonsense and pointedly tells us there is only one redeemer - and His name is Jesus Christ.

    The fact is, the Pope believes that Mary will be the supernatural agent of God's intervention in these last days. Quoting again from his authorized biography, John Paul believes that his entire life "has been preparation for the signal role he firmly believes Mary will one day play in bringing into visible existence the geopolitical structure he has made his goal. He bases this expectation on a georeligious event in which Mary figures as the instrument of divine providence. God, through Mary, he believes, has already forewarned the nations and predicted that geopolitical outcome."_36.

    The involvement of Mary in the False Prophet's prophetic program is crucial on another level. Mary is the only bridge between Islam, Judaism, and Christianity. While modern Jews hold Mary in high regard because history records her as a very special Jewish virgin, Mary is revered in a very low-profile fashion in Protestant circles as well. She is, for example, the subject of several hymns found in Methodist songbooks - to say nothing of her presence in every Christian nativity scene. Mary looms large every Christmas.

    What is truly remarkable is that she is actually mentioned 34 times in the Koran - the holy book of the Moslem faith. Furthermore, the Moslems are responding to the Marian apparitions in a big way. Life Magazine recently noted the fact that, as a result of the miraculous apparitions, there are "large numbers of Muslims making pilgrimages to Christian Marian shrines...."₃₇.

    Revelation tells us that the False Prophet "exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him..."_38. Since I have already shown that the first beast is descriptive of the world government system, it seems the False Prophet will enjoy the same degree of power as the Antichrist and his political system. Pope John Paul II believes "...the success of his papal participation in the endgame depends on an event whose timing and occasion he is powerless to determine, and the nature of which he cannot in any way influence or fashion. Without that event, he will be impotent just at the height of the endgame. Backed up by that event, he cannot but emerge as the most powerful man alive in his time."_39.

    John Paul II believes that God's move to intervene in history will be a miracle at the hands of Mary, and he will be her instrument. The Bible tells us that the False Prophet will be the focal point of the miraculous activity of Satan during the tribulation. It further tells us that he is able to "deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do...."_40.

    The Bible says the False Prophet will publicly make "fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men."_41. John Paul II's Catholic biographer says "He is waiting, rather for an event that will fission human history, splitting the immediate past from the oncoming future. It will be an event on public view in the skies...It will particularly involve our human sun...."_42.

    The Bible says the False Prophet "had power to give life unto the image of the beast...."_43. History records that when his native Poland became formally "consecrated" by the Catholic church to the virgin Mary, it was said "...the overall animator of the spirit of this national dedication was Karol Wojtyla (John Paul II)."_44.

    While I will cover the specifics of "the image of the beast" in greater detail in little while, at this juncture I will say that the image has multiple layers of fulfillment - just like every other aspect of prophecy. The stubborn recurrence of the goddess motif in the total history of man's religious endeavors deeply impacts the final manifestation of apostate religion. As I have repeatedly stated in several issues of the Apocalypse Chronicles,_45. the worship of the goddess was always the primary focal point of ancient apostacy.

    The most obvious foreshadowing of the Antichrist, the False Prophet, and the Image of the Beast is found in the Old Testament account of Daniel and the great statue of Nebuchadnezzar. In addition to the idolatry associated with worshiping this early manifestation of the �image of the beast,' Nebuchadnezzar's great statue is embedded with the number of the beast - 666. The text tells us the statue's "height was threescore cubits (60), and the breadth thereof six cubits..."_46. even as the worship was triggered by the playing of six instruments, "...the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer...."_47.

    I have long believed the statue to be female. Each verse that actually references the great image uses gender neutral language, e.g. "he set it up in the plain of Dura...."_48. Prophecy students have universally assumed the great image is the same one that Nebuchadnezzar had dreamed about in the previous chapter (golden head, silver arms, etc), but the text doesn't tell us that. Furthermore, we now know that Nebuchadnezzar was an initiate of the Babylonian goddess cult of Ishtar, for certain historical accounts tell us he was a student of her cult in his youth._49.

    This perfectly fits the description of the apostate religious movement of the end times that Revelation describes as "Mystery, Babylon the great, the mother of harlots and abominations of the earth."_50.

    The feminine nature of the harlot religion, coupled with the female imagery from the book of Daniel, implies the image has a feminine connotation. When we realize that the goddess worship is the central identifying component of the False Prophet, we can make certain predictions based on this prophetic understanding.

    We know that the False Prophet will perform miracles. We know that the Pope expects miracles to occur through him - but his expectation relates to a supernatural version of the virgin Mary. The widespread miracles found in Catholicism all center on Mary - apparitions, bleeding icons, crying statues, and even the famous "3 secrets" given by an apparition of Mary to the children at Fatima, Portugal in 1917.

    We know from the Bible that the final deception of the Antichrist and the False Prophet will involve "great signs, and wonders...to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect."_51. The Bible vividly describes the Antichrist deception concerning "...him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders."_52.

    Based on all of these facts, we can say with certainty that we will see the supernatural intrusion of Satan in the form of miracles that will be attributed to Mary. Furthermore, her presence will be seen as that of a goddess intervening in human affairs. She will be characterized as the same spiritual entity that was present in antiquity under the names Isis, Ishtar, Ashtaroth, etc. Her human agency will be the Pope, who will be her exclusive spokesperson on the earth.

    New Age teachers of every stripe have long assigned a female flavor to the spiritual forces they are encountering - many of them identifying this power as the virgin Mary. Others simply believe they are receiving communications from spirits, angels, extraterrestrials, and other beings. For example, an American woman named Patricia Ann Meyer claims to be receiving instruction from a female entity she has dubbed the Angel of North America. Whitley Streiber, whose writings have resulted in two major motion pictures, claims to have been repeatedly abducted by a female extraterrestrial he has identified with Isis - the Egyptian goddess. In Georgia, a woman claims to have channeled the virgin Mary on the same day everyday for the last nine years.

    Even the Trinity Broadcasting Network's Jan Crouch has had a visitation from "Mary." On a trip to St Petersburg, Russia, Mrs Crouch saw "a very beautiful lady with long dark hair...but when we turned back, our lady was gone!" The use of the phrase, "our lady," clearly shows the TBN intent to identify the mysterious woman as Mary. Indeed, the TBN newsletter recounting this story concludes with "I will ever know that God sent this heavenly visitor to us...."_53.

    In spite of his obviously unbiblical worship of the virgin Mary, the Pope has been able to draw vast sectors of what was once considered Protestant Christianity under his aegis. For example, when the Pope came to America for the Catholic sponsored World Youth Day, his agenda was accepted by numerous famous contemporary Christian musicians including Michael W Smith, DC Talk, Boyz To Men, and DeGarmo and Key. Major figures like Amy Grant and Kathy Troccolli have already shown public leanings towards reverencing the False Prophet. Even the Calvary Chapel based Maranatha Singers played for the Pope on his highly publicized trip to Denver for the Youth Day festivities. The message these and others sent through their attendance is the Pope is one with us. In short, they're saying Catholicism is Christian.

    One last point should be addressed here. In virtually every case where individuals are receiving communiques from Mary, the one constant is the imminent "chastisement" of the planet because of the sins of man. Each of the various Marioloters that are supposedly channeling her teachings are all saying the same thing. In his Marian book, writer Michael H Brown tells us Mary said "...what was given to me is that the chastisement will come. It must come. It is coming."_54. From Medjugorje, Yugoslavia we have Mary speaking through Marija Pavlovic: "The world has been drawn into a great whirlpool."_55.

    The chastisement, and how to survive it, is in view in this Marian instruction channeled by Veronica Lueken of Bayside, New York:

    In 1973, in a channeled communication to Rev Stefano Gobbi, "Mary" supposedly said "The time has come when my Immaculate Heart must be glorified by the Church because, in these times of the apostasy, of the purification and of the great tribulation, my Immaculate Heart is the only refuge and the way which leads you to the God of salvation and of peace."_58.

    In the Arkansas based Marian newspaper, A Call To Peace, the apparitions are channeled through a Catholic woman named Cyndi Cain. In these communications, "Mary" repeatedly warns of the chastisement to come: "Behold, I solemnly tell you that man-made disasters shall occur simultaneously with natural disasters. Soon there shall be the economic collapse, which shall give rise to the one world government...The signs of warning, of chastisement shall continue."_59. Even the title of a recent Catholic book on prophecy carries the key word. It's entitled "Catholic Prophecy: The Coming Chastisement."

    Catholic visionary Veronica Lueken, of the Our Lady of the Roses ministry, in a writing entitled The Great Chastisement, channels Mary with the following:

    I've covered this in considerable detail because it's crucial that we see that every one of these messages is teaching that during the "chastisement," Mary will be present with her followers to help them to survive. Because of these intense and continual warnings of this chastisement, Catholics in general, and Marians in particular, are expecting to find themselves in the tribulation in the near future. Furthermore, they are expecting to get their marching orders as to how to cope with the unprecedented destruction from Mary.

    Conversely, millions of evangelical Christians are "betting the ranch" on being raptured - before the tribulation begins. Millions of Christians who have no concept of what they are facing because they have steadfastly refused to hear what the Holy Spirit has been telling them through the plain teaching of scripture, are completely unprepared for the great deception that is now in their very own ranks.

    The teen-age Christians listen and dance to Christian rock - secure that they will be evacuated before the turmoil begins. They read books like The Kingdom Of God Is A Party by apostate "Christian" professor Tony Campolo. The middle-aged family Christians are largely debt-laden as they seek the cares of this world - but at least they "know" they won't die for their faith - or so they've been taught. They read books like Jesus Was A Millionaire by prosperity teacher Oral Roberts. The elderly are the closest to the truth as a few of them remember the Great Depression - but those that were around in that period are fading fast.

    Others have taken a theological retreat from the pre-tribulational rapture inconsistencies and turned to Preterism - the view that Christ actually did return (spiritually) in 70 AD. Incredibly, that view is gaining momentum. And of course, there are the Amillennialists and the Post-Millennialists that hold the church will take control of the world and therefore usher in the spiritual millennial reign of Christ. These two views were originated by Catholic theologians centuries ago.

    The ironic thing is these demonically "channeled" messages from Mary predicting that the entire world will soon find themselves in the tribulation period are true - even as many scripturally derived (albeit incorrect) doctrines within evangelical protestant circles are false! The trap is set. When rapturist oriented Christians, Preterists, Post-Millennialists, sound asleep denominational believers, Eastern orthodox members, and Catholics around the planet suddenly find themselves in a catastrophic world dominated by miraculous moves from a goddess figure named Mary, they will invariably be snared in the great deception.

    The Bible has given us all the information we need. The Pope of Rome is the False Prophet. His global rise to a preeminent position among all churches will depend on the near term intervention of Satan - masquerading as Mary. After the tribulation begins and "Mary" arrives, John Paul II, or perhaps a subsequent Pope, will in turn embrace the global political figure that will then be in control of world government through the authority of the United Nations. And it will all occur in the extremely near future.

    Christians everywhere are now being told we can trust the Pope. They're being told that Catholicism is simply another denomination. They're being conditioned towards a reunion between Protestants and Catholics - with the Polish pretender the source of leadership. When Mary moves in, the Pope will be her spokesperson and the spiritual door will be sealed shut.

    Everyone believes their church couldn't possibly be in error, when in fact, ALL churches are in error - with the exception of the collective remnant body of Christ. Remember the key to survival is a desperate act - a total commitment to the truth, regardless of the consequences. No matter how unpleasant that truth is, our eternal destiny depends on our willingness to embrace the unpopular truth. The truth is Jesus Christ - and His exclusive salvation that is apart from all churches, denominations, sects, or any other institution.

    The truth is, far more "believers" are going to fall into the final deception than anyone expects. Vast number of professing "Christians" are already in it. Every person needs to look deeper into their Bible to make sure that they haven't been misled. You cannot trust your Christian books. You cannot trust your favorite Christian musician. You cannot trust your favorite radio host. You cannot trust your pastor. You cannot trust your pastor's pastor.

    You can only trust Jesus Christ personally. The only way to know His truth is to study your Bible intensely and to fervently seek Christ for the truth in the power of His Holy Spirit. You cannot afford to do any less.
