God Bless Babylon? |
Since the September 11 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, the request, "God Bless America," has become a popular and politically correct prayer. God Bless America is the official motto of the United States. But what is actually requested when an American asks of God that He bless America? Are we asking God to bless our stock market and economy so that America can continue its financial prosperity? Are we asking God to bless our families and neighbors, to keep them safe from the very real threat of militant Islamic terrorism in our own hometowns? Are we asking for God's blessing on "America's New War," so that we will win quickly, as America is expected to? The fact is that God has already promised His blessing upon our nation if we do one thing that He requires. We are to turn from our wicked ways, and repent - and then he promises to heal our land and bless us. To ask God to bless America when we have not turned from our evils ways and repented is a direct insult to God. To ask God to bless America in its current sinful and ungodly condition is just another prideful sin of a dying and increasingly un-Christian nation. The terrorist attack on September 11 should have brought our nation to its knees, to admit our national as well as personal sins and to repent. In a repentant state America could ask for cleansing from our sinful nature. But instead,
Significantly, in 1775 America's Christian churches taught Christians to protect their God-given rights against government intervention and man-made law. Yet 226 years later America's churches conform to and support a bureaucratic, ungodly, and ever more fascist government. Ominously, in what has proven to be a historical warning, research indicates that more than 90% of the Christian churches in NAZI Germany enthusiastically supported the Hitler regime. The fact is, according to the Holy Scriptures, American Babylon should stop demanding that "God Bless America," and kneel before Him in shame and repentance. Will America turn from its wicked ways and repent? The Holy Scriptures foretell that America will not repent, and will face God's judgment, not His blessing, in the coming months. "Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their wisdom toward me is taught by the precept of men...the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid." - Isaiah 29:13, 14 November 26, 2001 -- Doug Hudson Copyright © 2001 Christian Media Network See Also |
